Education and Experience:   M.A. in Public History, History or Library 
and Information Science. Experience in researching and providing 
reference service in manuscript and local government records 
collections. Formal classroom training and/or experience in archival 
theory and practice, specifically the processing and preservation of 
manuscript collections.

Preferred:  Knowledge of basic office software and database use. 
Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Excellent oral and 
written communication skills. Interest and/or classroom study in 
aviation history and local and regional history.

Working Conditions:  Occasional evening and weekend hours. Lifting of 
boxes and heavy volumes.

Position Description:  

Process manuscript and local government records collections according 
to accepted archival standards and WSU established policies and 
procedures. Create descriptive finding aids, including web site 
description and catalog records.

Provide reference service to patrons in the reading room by answering 
the telephone, conducting reference interviews and locating and 
retrieving materials. Provide security for reading room by supervising 
and monitoring patron use of materials.

Perform basic preservation techniques on a variety of formats 
including cleaning, encapsulation, humidification, flattening and 
transfer to appropriate enclosures.

Update and enter information into archives databases.

Assist with exhibit design and installation.

Responsible for monitoring and ordering archival supplies and other 
duties as assigned.
