ACTING ASSISTANT ARCHIVIST



Oberlin College invites applications for the position of Acting  
Assistant Archivist. This is a full-time, limited-term Administrative  
& Professional Staff position in the Oberlin College Archives  
beginning on September 1, 2008 and continuing through June 30, 2009.



Responsibilities:  Under the direction of the Acting College  
Archivist, the Acting Assistant Archivist has the following  
responsibilities:

·     accessions institutional records and manuscript collections  
received by the Archives

·     arranges and describes collections

·     coordinates and reviews the work of student assistants

·     assists in the maintenance of the digital collections and  
website of the College Archives

·     performs reference service, records management, and other  
duties as assigned.



Required qualifications:  Substantial course work completed towards a  
Masters degree in Library Science, or an M.A. degree in History, with  
an emphasis on archival administration.



Desired qualifications:   Masters in library science or M.A. degree  
in history.  Knowledge of computer applications relating to archival  
description, scanning, and website design.  Some archival training or  
experience.



Compensation:  Within the range established for this position, salary  
is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
