Collection

There is still time for you or a fellow staff member to register for
OHIONET's workshop, Developing a Special or Rare Books Collection! Join Dr.
Geoff Smith of The Ohio State University as he will discuss the development
of a rare books/special collection library. Dr. Smith will address various
topics related to institutional collecting, including: collection
development theory as applied to special collections; models of special
collections; constituencies and audiences for special collections;
bibliographic resources; financial development and donor relations;
acquisition of rare materials (book dealers and auctions); operational
logistics of a special collections; security; and, promotion and publicity.
He will also talk about personal collecting and private libraries.

When: Thursday, May 22, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Where: OHIONET

Cost: $80 (members); $100 (non-members)
