Reference Librarian/Archivist

Malone University, a Christian university for the arts, sciences and professions, is seeking applicants for a full-time (12-month), non-tenure track position as Reference Librarian and Archivist.  This position offers a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic, people-oriented individual to interact with students and faculty in general reference assistance and bibliographic instruction and to oversee the maintenance, promotion, preservation and access for the library archives.  Malone's archive includes not only the historical collection of the university, but also serves as repository for the records of the Evangelical Friends Society-Eastern Region.

Essential Responsibilities:

§  Report to the Director of Library Services
§  Provide reference service to faculty and students
§  Conduct library orientations for undergraduate and graduate students
§  Assist in planning and teaching bibliographic instruction sessions
§  Act as liaison to selected university departments
§  Select, develop, catalog, organize, preserve, and provide access to university and Friends archives
§  Oversee archives digitization projects
§  Work with library director to promote library archives and to develop archives policies and procedures
§  Communicate with Evangelical Friends Church and other archives donors


Qualifications:


 *   Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program
 *   Experience or training in reference
 *   Training in archives management
 *   Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
 *   Must be in harmony with the mission and goals of Malone University

Schedule includes at least one evening a week and weekends on a rotating basis with other reference staff.
