[SOA] OhioDIG meeting: Mar 31, 10am: Lessons Learned: In-house Digitization

Please join the Ohio Digitization Interest Group at our next meeting at 10am on Monday, March 31, at Ohio Historical Society in Columbus. Our discussion group meeting will include a presentation on Lessons Learned: In-house Digitization.

- Food: Coffee & cookies will be offered at the start of the meeting. Lunch will be brown bag. A limited selection of vending machines available on site. 
- Cost: There is no fee for attending.

- 10:00-10:30 coffee social (coffee & cookies);
- 10:30-11:30 presentation & discussion on topic;
- 11:30-11:45 break;
- 11:45-1:00 brown bag lunch: all-attendee updates, "members" meeting, discussion;
- 1:15- optional: small group discussions (user groups, birds of a feather)

Amy McCrory, digital imaging specialist, The Ohio State University. 
"Material Issues: Physical Features, Lighting, and Digital Capture" - Amy will discuss image capture, including for the King James Bible exhibit and glass slides.  http://library.osu.edu/blogs/digitalscholarship/author/amy-mccrory/ 

Marcus Ladd, special collections librarian, Miami University. 
"This Could Take a While" - Reflections after the first year of a student-aided digitization project.  
The Bowden Postcard Collection contains a "staggering 480,000 postcards, spanning the entire 20th century and the entire globe." The project already has 1700 postcards online and plans are to continue work for decades to come.
