Happy Friday from the Greene County Records Center & Archives!

The holidays are just around the corner and that means that kids will be home on their winter breaks looking for something to do. We have something that is both fun and educational that the kids might enjoy!

I am pleased to introduce our new Student Resource Page<https://www.co.greene.oh.us/index.aspx?NID=1092>! The Greene County Records Center & Archives maintains and preserves the vital historical records of the County and it is our responsibility to ensure that they are accessible to current and future generations.

One of the goals of our Student Resource Page is to introduce students to the importance of archival repositories, their role in preserving important records and how these records can be used for a variety of research projects. We also want to educate students about the rich history of the county that they live in. The booklets and activities available to students provide them with a sampling of our primary sources along with fun activities to learn how these records can be used. The webpage also introduces students to some local history topics and historical locations that are right in their own backyard!

The following presentations and activities are included on the Student Resource Page:

* What Does An Archivist Do?
*  What Is An Archives?
*  What Is A Record?
* Greene County History Crossword Puzzle Activity Packet
* Greene County Historical Coloring Book
*  Archives Word Search Activity
*  Biographies for Kids
*  Genealogy for Kids
*  Maps for Kids

We've also included links to other educational websites that provide fun activities for kids of all ages.

Please feel free to forward this information on to anyone (educators, parents, grandparents, etc.) who might be interested in these activities. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the page, please have them contact our Public Outreach Coordinator, Elise Kelly, by phone at 937-562-6486 or by email at ekelly at co.greene.oh.us<mailto:ekelly at co.greene.oh.us>.

Thanks and be sure to turn those clocks back this weekend. :)
