Don't want to sweat it out in Orlando in June? Come to SWON's Spring
Training Symposium in May!
Can’t attend ALA this summer? Not going to make it to PLA this weekend?
Don’t really like to travel anyway? That’s OK, because SWON has a great
and diverse lineup of innovators that live right next door to you. No
need to travel to Denver when Dayton will do!
For this year's Staff Training Symposium[1], we’ve got a number of
library leaders lined up to talk about what new ideas they’ve
developed in their libraries, and the whys and hows of these changes.
They’ll even open it up for questions so you can ask what you’ve
always been wondering about the changes you see in your library and
those around you.
Speakers on this panel will include: Melida Busch, director of
Cincinnati Children’s Pratt Research Library, Ken Gibson, director of
Xavier University’s library, Cherie Roeth, director of Bradford Public,
Dave Schroeder, director of the Kenton County Public Library system, Kim
Senft-Paras, director of the Washington-Centerville Public Library and
member of the Ohio Library Council Board of Directors and the Government
Relations Legislative Network Committee and Jennifer Spillman, who
manages both the Temporary Main Library and the Adult Services Division
and system-wide adult programs for the Dayton Metro Library.
As you can see, this is a diverse group of leaders from a wide variety
of libraries, so no matter what type of library, size of organization or
the environment you work in, this panel is for you! But that’s not all!
After the panel, there will be breakout sessions for a variety of
interests, from a session on how to land that academic library job, an
introduction to election resources for your patrons, Reader’s Advisory
advice, and a class on how to develop your career path.
Lunch, a tour of the new Northwest Branch of the Dayton Metro Public

Deadline Extended!--Call for Proposals ALAO 2016

The Academic Library Association of Ohio (ALAO) Conference Planning
Committee is pleased to announce our call for breakout session proposals
for the 2016 ALAO conference. The conference will be held on Friday,
October 28th at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington, OH. The theme this
year is "User Experience: Exceeding User Expectation By Design". More
information and submission guidelines are available on the attached PDF
or the conference website[3].

*The deadline for submitting breakout session proposals is April 15th.*
The call for poster sessions and roundtables will be coming out soon.
