>POLICY BOARD and ALL MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS: Yet one last reminder!

**************************************************************************************
>Dear Colleague,
>
>I am pleased to invite you to participate in the 2006 Humanities
>Advocacy Day, to be held Wednesday, March 1st through Thursday, March
>2nd in Washington, D.C.
>
>Registration is now available online at http://www.nhalliance.org/had/.
>The deadline to register for Humanities Advocacy Day is February 1,
>2006. Additional program materials will also be available online in the
>weeks before the conference. I encourage you to forward this invitation
>to your colleagues who may be interested in participating in Humanities
>Advocacy Day.
>
>Humanities Advocacy Day is an annual event that allows grassroots
>advocates the opportunity to educate Members of Congress and encourage
>federal support for research, education, preservation, and public
>programs in the humanities. In previous years, participants have helped
>to secure significant increases in funding for the National Endowment
>for the Humanities (NEH). Our advocacy efforts this year are more
>necessary than ever to encourage sustained and increased financial
>support for NEH and other federal humanities programs. We will also
>encourage Members to participate in the House Humanities Caucus and
>Senate Cultural Caucus.
>
>As a Humanities Advocacy Day participant, you will receive advocacy
>training and briefing on a variety of legislative and policy issues
>prior to your visits with Members of Congress. Registration is free,
>and hotel rooms can be reserved at a discounted rate of $169 per night
>at the City Center Hotel (Dupont Circle/Foggy Bottom). The deadline to
>reserve a room at the conference rate is January 30, 2006.
>
>Humanities Advocacy Day is organized by the National Humanities
>Alliance (NHA), a non-profit coalition founded in 1981 to advance
>humanities policy. This event is made possible with the generous
>support of leading humanities organizations. For more information,
>please contact the NHA staff at (202) 296-4994 x150.
>
>Thank you for your support. We look forward to seeing you in March!
>
>With best wishes,
>
>Jessica Jones Irons, Executive Director
>Erin K. Smith, Communications & Membership Officer
>National Humanities Alliance
