color:black'>The Medical Heritage Center (MHC) at the Prior Health Sciences
Library at The Ohio State University Medical Center is pleased to announce the
May 2006 opening of the William G. Myers, MD, PhD Collection. On May 25, 2006,
as part of the opening festivities, the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Medical</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Heritage</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Center</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> and the Department
of Radiation Oncology at The Ohio State University will present Henry Wagner
MD, long-time associate of Myers, nuclear medicine history scholar, and author
of Atoms for Life: A Personal History of Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Wagner will
lecture on the history of nuclear medicine and Myers’s role in that
history. The lecture will be accompanied two exhibits: a Myers exhibit using
materials from the Myers Collection that detail his life and the national
traveling exhibit Atoms for Peace from the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">National</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Atomic</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Museum</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>. The reception
will begin at 4PM with the lecture at 4:30PM.<span

color:black'>Myers was a pioneer in the field of nuclear medicine. His
contributions to the profession include the development of radioactive gold
seeds for interstitial therapy and the introduction of more radioisotopes
(eleven) into nuclear medicine than any other individual. For his continuing
role as champion of the cyclotron, he was aptly called the “godfather of
the cyclotron.”<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
