The University of Dayton Libraries seek a Project Archivist for the U.S.
Catholic Special Collection.   The U.S. Catholic Special Collection
preserves records of the Catholic Church and Catholic life in the United
States and supports the University's doctoral program in Religious Studies
focusing on the U.S. Catholic experience. The Project Archivist will be
responsible for processing pamphlets and other printed ephemera, manuscript
materials, media, and realia, creating collection-level records supplemented
by EAD finding aids, and assisting the Curator of Rare Books in staffing
the open hours for the collection.  Working in collaboration with
the Associate Dean for Collections and Operations, the Curator of Rare
Books, and advisory faculty from the Departments of Religious Studies and
History, the Visiting Archivist will set priorities for processing, preservation,
and digitization.   The position will also provide consultation and
processing support for archival collections in the Marian Library.  This
is a non-tenure-track-faculty position with the rank of lecturer, reporting
to the Associate Dean for Collections and Operations.<br>

Required qualifications: Master's degree with specialization in archives
or public history, training and/or experience in minimum-level processing
using Green and Meissner processing techniques, training and/or experience
with DACS and EAD, knowledge of American Catholic history, and experience
processing religious collections.<br>

Preferred qualifications: training or experience in preservation; knowledge
of Mariology.  <br>
