House of Representatives has proposed cutting the National Historical
Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) funding for 2011 from $10 million
to $4 million as part of its overall effort to reduce federal
spending. This is a 60% reduction for this year alone, and it sets a very
dangerous precedent for the upcoming 2012 budget negotiations.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p style='line-height:125%'><font size=2 color="#535353" face=Arial><span
lang=EN style='font-size:10.0pt;line-height:125%;font-family:Arial;color:#535353'>The
Council of State Archivists, the Society of American Archivists, the National
Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators, and the
Association for Documentary Editing are working collaboratively to address this
threat to NHPRC and the National Archives. Archivists across the <st1:country-region
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">U.S.</st1:place></st1:country-region> are
rallying to stop serious cuts to NHPRC funding for 2011.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
