us at the Center for the History of Psychology at The University of Akron as we
unveil a new exhibit entitled ‘Sacred Spaces’ featuring five architectural
models of places of worship. The June 15th opening will begin at 1:30pm with a
20 minute introduction by architect Suzanne Morgan and the unveiling of
the exhibit at 2:00 pm. A reception with light refreshments will follow. This
event is FREE and open to the public. The Sacred Spaces exhibit will be on
display through August 24, 2013.

<span style="font-family:"Cambria","serif";color:black">After
9/11, Ms. Morgan decided to find a way to bring people together to learn about
other faith traditions in a safe and peaceful way. As an architect, the focus
was through architecture. This collection was a part of what came out of that
effort and the 5 congregations that are represented in this exhibit by their
sacred spaces. Ms. Morgan will provide a brief overview to contextualize each
congregation with their structures and traditions, and to give some background
into the decision to use architecture as a vehicle for interreligious
understanding.

Morgan, studied architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago

Theological Union. Morgan is also a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and
possesses an MBA degree from the University of Chicago. She has served on the
boards of more than a dozen civic organizations and foundations across the
country, and has held positions with several architectural firms over the
course of her career including Loebl, Schlossman, Bennett and Dart and
Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in Chicago. Suzanne brings deep commitment and
wide experience, spanning four decades in the fields of architecture and
religious practice, to her mission of promoting greater interreligious
appreciation and understanding.
