<p><em>The Bay Psalm Book</em> is not only the <em>first book printed in America</em> (from Cambridge,
MA of the Bay Colony) in 1640 by the Puritans
- but as a new translation of the Psalms it is also the <em>first book written
in America</em>.
Only 11 copies of this remarkable book survive. The copy of the <em>Bay
Psalm Book</em> belonging to the Old South Church
in Boston will
be sold at <span id="DWT374"><span class="zm-spellcheck-misspelled">Sotheby's</span></span>
<span id="OBJ_PREFIX_DWT263_com_zimbra_date"><span id="OBJ_PREFIX_DWT766_com_zimbra_date"><span class="object">November 26, 2013</span></span></span>.
This is one of the finest surviving copies and will be the first time a<em> Bay
Psalm Book</em> has appeared in the marketplace in over 65 years. The <em>1640
Bay Psalm Book </em>is not simply one of the greatest icons of book history, it
is one of the greatest artifacts of American history. Its estimated value
ranges from $15-$30 million (yes million) dollars. </p>
