<p>The annual <a href="https://www.ohiohistory.org/participate/event-calendar/statehood-day">
Statehood Day advocacy event</a> will be held at the Ohio Statehouse on Tuesday, March 1. The event begins at 10 am in the Statehouse Atrium and will conclude by 12:30. Due to the pandemic, this year’s event will be different than in past years – a shorter
agenda, no luncheon and the event is free.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Attendees are encouraged to schedule meetings (virtual or in-person) with their local state legislators sometime the week of March 1. A briefing on legislative priorities will be included.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>This year’s event will focus on the state and national effort to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, culminating on July 4, 2026. A new Ohio Commission for the U.S. Semiquincentennial (250th) will be introduced at this year’s Statehood
Day event. John Dichtl, the president and CEO of the American Association of State and Local History (AASLH), will give remarks. The program also includes the presentation of the Ohio History Leadership Award and the 2022 History Fund grant awards.<o:p></o:p></p>
