Special Collections Cataloger creates, enhances, and corrects catalog
records for Special Collections, Rare Books, Marian Library, and
University Archives using established standards and departmental
policies. Creates name authority records as needed. Collects and
maintains cataloging statistics. Stays current with cataloging trends
and workflows and attends professional development training as needed.
May be asked to serve on division and library teams, committees, and
task forces.</div><br><b>Minimum Qualifications: </b><br><ul><li>Bachelor's degree.</li><li>Experience working in a library or museum.</li><li>Strong computer skills including accurate typing ability and knowledge of Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office.</li><li>Ability to proofread or perform detailed work.</li><li>Effective communication skills.</li></ul><div><b>Preferred Qualifications:</b></div>While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:<br><ul><li>Graduate degree in library or information science or related field.</li><li>Experience cataloging library materials.</li><li>Experience cataloging special collections or rare books.</li><li>Experience creating authority records.</li><li>Familiarity
in one or more of the following: RDA, OCLC, integrated library systems,
and Library of Congress subject headings and classification.</li><li>Reading knowledge of one or more foreign languages.</li><li>Knowledge of one or more of the following, DCRMR, NACO or BIBCO.</li><li>Experience with MarcEdit or OpenRefine.</li><li>Demonstrated and successful experience working with people from diverse backgrounds. </li><li>Knowledge of and sensitivity to Catholic and Marianist educational values.</li></ul>Because
