/4casting technologies that could have an impact on public libraries./

Knowing what your users are doing online is pretty important. You can
use the info to know where to focus your marketing efforts. For
example, if most of your users prefer watching videos to looking at
pictures, focus more on creating YouTube <http://www.youtube.com/> posts
and upload less to Flickr <http://www.flickr.com/>. Find out what
people are talking about on Twitter <http://www.twitter.com/> to promote
your collection.

Here are some ways to track what your users are seeing online.

    * Tracking Twitter trends can be done using TweetStats
      <http://tweetstats.com/trends> or Trendistic
      <http://trendistic.com/>.
    * Tracking video trends? Try Magma <http://mag.ma/>or Break
      <http://www.break.com/videos/newest/>.
    * If you want to track keyword search trends, try Google Trends Hot
      Lis <http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends>t, Google Trends
      <http://www.google.com/trends> or Trendy Bing
      <http://www.trendybing.com/>.
    * Want to know the latest news trend? Try Newsmap
<http://newsmap.jp/>, which aggregates Google News and can be
      customized by topic and location.

If you want a quick way to see what's popular in technology
moment-by-moment, monitor what's being discussed on the ReadWriteWeb
"trends" section <http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/trends/>.
