<p>On May 1st and 2nd, 424 library advocates from 47 states went to
Washington, D.C. for the American Library Association’s <a
href="http://www.ala.org/ala/washoff/washevents/nlld/nationallibrary.cfm"
title="ALA National Library Legislative Day" target="_blank">National
Library Legislative Day</a>.
They spoke with their Congressional representatives about the needs of
libraries in the areas of funding, telecommunications, copyright,
government information, and privacy.</p>
<p>One of the privacy issues discussed was the so-called REAL ID Act.
If you’ve been following state government, you may have seen that REAL
ID is also a topic of discussion at the Statehouse. This week’s <em>OPLIN
