Remote Access Users: A New World of Opportunity for Libraries -
Videoconference

Wednesday, October 1, 2003

1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
MOLO Regional Library System Training Center, New Philadelphia

Scheduled Speaker: Donnelyn Curtis, Rick Anderson, Araby Y. Greene,
University of Nevada, Reno Library

There's a new breed of library patrons accessing your library's
resources. They could be coming from their home down the street to
search reference databases or from thousands of miles away to peruse
genealogy records. But these users have two major things in
common...they're remote users of your library services AND chances are,
they will never set foot in your library. This workshop will define who
remote users are, explore the shift in attitudes of remote users, and
help library staff understand what remote users are looking for and how
your library can meet those needs. Donnelyn Curtis, Director of Research
Services at the University of Nevada, Reno Library; Rick Anderson,
Director of Resource Acquisition at the University of Nevada, Reno
Library, and Araby Y. Greene, Web Development Librarian at the
University of Nevada, Reno Library recently contributed to the book
"Attracting, Educating, and Serving Remote Users Through the Web," which
was edited by Ms. Curtis. This talented trio will share their expertise
in the arena of remote users through the medium of videoconferencing.=20
