[OPLINLIST] teacher loans

Hi, Sharon,
Our teacher loan policy allows a longer loan period (4 weeks as opposed to 2
weeks) and no fines with a teacher card; we do allow ILL, for teachers, as
we would any other patron. We are a small library, and we know most of our
teachers, so proof of a teaching job is not necessary. We don't limit the
teacher loans to children's books ( we have HS and Jr. High teachers who
take advantage of it.) However, we would probably question a teacher who
wanted to take the latest John Grisham or Danielle Steel on his teacher
card. Our teachers appreciate this service, and so far, no problems. Most
of our teachers live in our community and have a regular adult card for
their personal use, as well as a teacher card.

questions of my own:
> Anyone:
> 1. When you issue a teacher loan card, do you ask for proof of teaching
position? If so, how do you handle the homeschoolers?
> 2. Do you charge for lost items? Do you charge overdues or fees
associated with the system?
> 3. Do you allow items from another library to go out on a teacher loan
(!!!), and if not, how do you handle requests for items in the system.
> 4. Do you allow items from the adult collection to go out on teacher
loan, or is the teacher loan service specific to the children's dept. only?
