Columbus State Community College has two openings for part-time
reference librarians.  One of the openings is for daytime hours and the
other is for evening & weekend hours.   We will consider library science
students who are nearing completion of their master's degree for these
positions.  



POSITION: Reference Librarian

DEPARTMENT: Educational Resource Center

JOB SUMMARY: Provides reference assistance and support to students,
faculty and staff. Answers reference questions using variety of print
and electronic resources. Provides individual instruction to users with
varying skill levels, in the research process and in effective use of
electronic and print resources and databases. Conducts group instruction
sessions for students and faculty. Researches, evaluates and selects
reference library materials to assist in maintenance and upgrading of
reference and circulating collections. Maintains current expert
knowledge of multiple electronic databases used by students, faculty and
staff. Collaborates with faculty in development of instruction sessions
tailored to the curriculum, class assignments and student readiness.
Provides advice and support to students including interpreting
usefulness of reference materials for student projects, advises students
on selection and focus of topics for research papers, and guides
students in development of effective search strategies.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Must have Master's Degree in Library Science from
an ALA accredited institution or closely related field with at least 3
years progressively responsible experience working in a library
reference position or a related field.

HOURS/SALARY: This is a Part - Time position working up to 20 hours per
week. Pay Band 05 - $16.37
