*Description:*Many libraries are exploring the benefits of using the 
Linux operating system in their institution. It can lower a library's 
software costs, provide for more predictable technology planning, reduce 
security concerns, and offer more flexibility to users.  Libraries are 
currently using Linux with other open source software for their:
- Web/file/mail servers
- Library portals
- Automation/integrated library systems
- Digital libraries
- Web content filters
- Electronic reserves/journals systems
- Virtual reference systems
- Public access computers
Join us for this overview of Linux and open source software and find out 
how it can benefit your library's staff, patrons, and budget. Attendees 
will get hands-on experience with Linux and library-related projects.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- What is Linux?
- What can libraries do with it?
- What is needed to implement Linux?
- What is needed to support it?

A Box Lunch will be provided.
