College of the Month - the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing

The College of Nursing at the University of Cincinnati has a long history of
providing quality education. Founded in 1889 the college offered the first
baccalaureate degree in nursing in the country. The college was a charter
member of the National League of Nursing, the national accrediting agency,
and has maintained its accreditation continuously since the organization's
founding in 1942. Under the leadership of current dean Andrea R Lindell, RN,
MSN, DNSc enrollment has grown to 887 students in its graduate and
undergraduate programs. Programs offered include: the baccalaureate degree
and Master of Science in Nursing, including Nurse Practitioner and Clinical
Nurse Specialist, and a respected doctoral (PhD) program.

In addition to excellence in education and research, service to others both
locally and internationally is integral to the overall philosophy of the
college. This emphasis on service is reflected by the number of nursing
faculty who participate in NetWellness. Some of the most respected nurses in
the country will answer your questions about addiction/substance abuse,
aging, breast feeding, diet and nutrition, and newborn care.
