LSTA Statewide Continuing Education Grant Funds Available

The State Library is pleased to announce the availability of Library
Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Statewide Continuing Education grant
funds for FY06. All types of libraries (public, school, academic,
special) may apply for funding.

This new grant program is designed to support costs associated in
offering continuing education, professional development, seminars, and
training programs that increase the competencies of library staff. In
order to be funded, continuing education proposals must be made
available statewide. Projects which benefit only a regional or local
audience will not be funded.

Under the statewide continuing education grant it is anticipated that
the majority of funded proposals will not exceed a request of $24,000 in
federal funds. Applicants requesting more than $24,000 in federal funds
must present compelling reasons that this continuing education event
responds to a well-documented need in the Ohio library community and
that there would be a corresponding significant positive impact on a
statewide level. A local match is also required; the local match must
be 25% of the total project amount. Approved proposals will run from
July 1, 2006 - June 30, 2007.

The Request for Proposal, can be found at
http://winslo.state.oh.us/publib/lstacerfp.html

LSTA staff is available to answer questions throughout the application
process and are willing to read draft proposals.

Proposals are due at the State Library by 4:00 p.m., March 1, 2006.
