This workshop offers in-depth training on using the core business 
reference tools that are free or fee-based and Web-accessible. The 
core reference tools for business in print are discussed.

Specific databases include Hoovers Online and the Thomas Register 
Online as well as U.S. Federal government sources including free 
Patent & Trademark searching instruction.

Competitive Intelligence Resources provide information and ethical 
standards that are used in the process of enhancing marketplace 
competitiveness through a greater understanding of a firm's 
competitors and the competitive environment. The Web is a vital 
source for information on local, national and international business, 
research in specific industries, as well as statistical and economic 
intelligence. This is a general business reference workshop and does

Who Should Attend:

This workshop is intended for librarians and other information 
specialists who want to find high quality usable free and fee-based 
business information on the Web. The core reference tools for 
business, in print or electronic format are covered.
Prerequisite:

Familiarity using Internet and experience using a web browser (such 
as Internet Explorer or Firefox). No business research experience is 
expected.
