I received the request below seeking input from PLA in response to its revision of the "Planning for Results" Service Responses. Thank you for taking the time to review the work that has been accomplished to this point.

Just checking in to see if you might have a minute or two to visit the
PLA Blog, www.plablog.org and participate in the discussion on the
revision of the service responses.

As you may already know, PLA is in the process of revising the
"Results" service responses.

The PLA Results service responses have been a core element of the PLA
planning process for a decade. However, there have been significant
changes in the way people use libraries in the past 10 years and the
service responses have become increasingly dated. New service responses
will be identified over the next six months. The process is being
managed by Sandra Nelson (sandra-nelson at comcast.net) and June Garcia
(jgarcia at dubberlygarcia.com), the editor and associate editor of the
Results series.

Three meetings were held during the 2006 ALA Annual Conference in New
Orleans to discuss the current service responses and possible new
service responses. The comments from the participants in those meetings
have been summarized and are available on the PLA Blog. We encourage you
(and your colleagues) to join in the discussion on the PLA Blog of what
the new service responses should include.

The discussion of the current service responses on the blog will
continue until October 20, 2006. At that time, the service responses
will be revised to reflect your input. Drafts of the proposed new
service responses will be available on this site on December 1, 2006 and
the PLA Service Responses Blog will be available to discuss the drafts
and make recommendations about changes. Final drafts of the service
responses will be posted to this site by January 4, 2007. More
information about the process can be found at
http://www.plaresults.org.

To read the comments and participate in the discussion, visit
www.plablog.org. We need your input today! Tell your colleagues
about this opportunity to participate as well. Thanks in advance for
your participation!!

Kathleen
