THE VIRGINIA HAMILTON AND ARNOLD ADOFF

CREATIVE OUTREACH GRANT

FOR TEACHERS AND LIBRARIANS

The 3^rd Annual *Virginia Hamilton and Arnold Adoff */Creative Outreach 
Grants for Teachers and Librarians/* call for proposals is on its way. 
*Two grants up to $1,000 each will be given. One grant will be given to 
a teacher and another to a librarian for proposals to develop new 
classroom or library programs that raise awareness of multicultural 
literature among young people, particularly but not exclusively, through 
the works of Virginia Hamilton. The application deadline is *February 
28, 2007*. For complete instructions and proposal guidelines see the 
attached application. The application is also available on the

Please complete and submit the application form along with your 
proposal. Librarians should send their application form and proposal to 
Dr. Carolyn S. Brodie (cbrodie at kent.edu), Virginia Hamilton and Arnold

at the *Virginia Hamilton* *Conference on Multicultural Literature for 
Youth to *be held on *Friday, April 13, 2007* at the Kent State Student 
Center. This year's conference “/Look Backward With/ /Pride ~ Look 
Forward With Hope/” features *Pam Muñoz Ryan, Javaka Steptoe, Kadir 
Nelson and Eloise Greenfield. *Our Thursday evening program* *on* April 
12, 2007* will feature a keynote address by the 9/^th Annual Virginia 
Hamilton Literary Award winner,/ *Eloise Greenfield*, and an African 
drum and dance performance by Sogbety Diomande Troupe. An autograph 
session and a dessert reception will conclude the evening. *Register
