POSITION: Information Technology Manager			AGENCY:
Main Library 

PAY GRADE: 2 	Range: $33,725-65,550 annually		JOB CODE: IT0001

Posted on January 17, 2007 

Position will be a 40 hour work week.  The schedule will rotate and will
include evenings, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays to meet the needs of
the Library.  Position may require a six day work week.

OVERVIEW OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
	*	Establishes goals and objectives for system-wide
Information Technology based on SCDL's Mission Statement, Values
Statement, and Strategic Plan, along with technology innovations and
communicates these to the Associate Director for Library Technology.
	*	Assigns tasks and schedules of I.T. staff based upon
service needs consistent with library policies and the labor agreement.
	*	Provides technical leadership in designing, developing,
scheduling and implementing I.T. services.
	*	Works with the ILS (Integrated Library Systems)
Coordinator in conjunction with the Associate Director for Library
Technologies to maintain access to the library's ILS via the library's
network.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
	*	A thorough understanding of the principles of computer
systems, network systems and/or information management systems.
	*	Skill in equipment operations and applicable software
(e.g., computer, computer hardware and software, printer, keyboard
operations, fax machine, photocopier, presentation software, spreadsheet
applications); and applicable networking technologies (e.g., Windows and
Linux servers; Citrix; networking protocols such as TCP/IP for routing;
network switching; network caching; perimeter firewalls; network
intrusion detection; web server services such as Microsoft SQL;
user-level web services such as HTTP/HTTPS, FTP/SFTP and SSH; wireless
standards such as Bluetooth, 802.11, RFID and WiFi; VoIP).
	*	Demonstrated ability to establish and administer a
budget, implement policies, manage staff, offer excellent patron service
and communicate needs to the Associate Director for Library Technology.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 
	*	A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from an accredited
college or university, preferably information technology or a related
field.
	*	Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience
with supervisory experience preferred.
