OCLC Information Sessions at OHIONET, September 27, 2007

 

On Thursday September 27th OHIONET is pleased to offer several free
information sessions on the OCLC Terminologies Service, OCLC WorldCat
Collection Analysis, and OCLC WorldCat Selection. These sessions will be
held at the OHIONET offices in Columbus, OH.

 

The OCLC Terminologies Service session will be held from 10:30 AM- 12:00
PM. The Terminologies Service provides access to multiple controlled
vocabularies to help your library create consistent metadata for your
library, museum, or archive collections. Anyone with an interest in
metadata creation for digital projects is urged to attend. Susan
Westberg, OCLC's Product Manager, will provide an overview of the
service and will be available for questions. The service is freely
available to all libraries that have a current OCLC cataloging
subscription. 

 

The information sessions for OCLC's WorldCat Collection Analysis and
OCLC WorldCat Selection will be held from 1-4 PM. WorldCat Selection
consolidates vendor notification into one online product and offers
download of OCLC records at the time of order. On the other side of the
process, WorldCat Collection Analysis is a tool for libraries to examine
their collection and compare it to the collection of other libraries or
title lists. 

 

David Whitehair, OCLC WorldCat Selection product manager, and Rob Ross,
WorldCat Collection Analysis product manger, will be on hand to give
overviews of these products and answer your questions. There will also
be time for you to talk informally with OCLC staff and each other.

 

There is no cost to attend either the morning or afternoon sessions.
