      Speaker(s)

*Sheila Freyhof* is the Training Instructor and the Volunteer Services 
Coordinator for the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. 
Sheila has worked as a Reference Librarian at the Green Township Branch 
and a Children's Librarian at the Mariemont Branch, where she served for 
six years. Sheila has been the Training Instructor in Human Resources 
for the past seven years. This new career path has given her an 
opportunity to design and implement over 35 different programs for the 
library not including those with outside presenters.


      Description

This class follows and illustrates the guidelines set forth in the 
revised brochure, Guidelines for Managing Patron Problems. Participants 
will practice approach and observation techniques, appropriate responses 
and phrases, and will review follow-up procedures through group 
discussions and activities. Great refresher course for staff who are 
experiencing "burn out" or need to feel empowered as an employee dealing 
with the public.
