Collection Development Symposium

October 24th, Fawcett Center, Columbus.

Don't miss this very special event. Every library, no matter what size or
type, has one obvious common goal: to collect materials and resources that
fulfill the informational needs of their patrons, and provide access to
these resources in the best way possible. The Collection Development
Symposium will address various topics and issues that affect collection
decisions- everything from basic skills such as preservation, weeding and
acquisitions to digital rights management and the latest gadgets and gizmos
that store and access information. Learn how to diversify your collection to
make it more accessible to minority groups within your community, or hear
how one public and one academic library decided to share their collections
with the entire community and how they made it work.  Children's librarians
can rediscover classics that every collection should have and learn how to
build a fantastic homework help center, and YA librarians can hear all about
the hottest new teen reads. This symposium has something for everyone: from
the veteran librarian to those new to the field. Thanks to funding from an
LSTA grant and in cooperation with the State Library of Ohio and the Ohio
Regional Library Systems, registrations fees for this event have been kept
to a minimum.
