      Description

Libraries face the continual challenge of making users and nonusers
aware of collections and services. This is especially crucial at the
time when people are looking to the Internet for solutions. This
workshop will show how public and
academic library staff can use marketing techniques to help increase
awareness of their value.

By the end of this workshop you will be able to:

** DESCRIBE what your library has to offer the community.

** CREATE a benefits-based "elevator speech" for communicating the value
your
library to local organizations.

** IDENTIFY 3-5 things you can do within the next 3-6 months to increase
your
visibility in the community.

** EXECUTE a good marketing plan on a tight budgeT.
