OHIONET is proud to announce its newest training calendar! For complete
workshop details-including registration information-visit the following
link: http://www.ohionet.org/training_calendar.php.

Here are some of the highlights in the upcoming months:

*	Fundamentals of Cataloging: OHIONET's own Roman Panchyshyn is
traveling the state in hopes of bringing these workshops to a location
closer to you. Look for workshops in Caldwell, Tiffin, Middletown, and
North Canton. Also, check out guest-speaker Jay Weitz's workshop on
cataloging music materials in May.

*	Future-focused: OHIONET is proud to be a part of the discussion
of the future-focused library. With the McDreamy OPAC workshop you'll
learn-hands-on-about some of the new search tools that libraries can use
to make their catalogs more user-friendly. Demographics, Mapping,
Marketing, and Technology features some progressive-minded ideas for
taking something dry-statistics-and creating a robust library that meets
the needs of its entire user base.

*	Back by popular demand: Two of OHIONET's highest-attended,
most-requested workshops are back in early '08! Register quickly for our
Technical Services Workflow Analysis and Taking Interlibrary Loan to the
Next Level-both held in March.

*	Book preservation: Join the Ohio State University's Geoff Smith
as he discusses the ins-and-outs of starting and maintaining a special
or rare book collection at your library. Also, Miriam Kahn returns to
provide hands-on book repair training.

*	Staff training: With training time at a minimum, librarians must
often look to their peers if they want to learn the ropes. Find out how
to maximize such interactions with the workshop Learn From Your
Co-Workers in March. Also, nowadays library staff can't afford to turn a
blind eye to security problems that may arise within the library. To
address this, in June OHIONET is welcoming two officers to present a
workshop on how library workers can protect themselves and their users
should a crisis occur.

*	Distance learning: Through our partnership in the Network
Education Exchange (NEE), OHIONET is proud to be able to offer access to
online workshops covering topics such as digital imaging, internet
resources on varying topics, XML training, and an audiobooks primer.

For your added convenience, a printable PDF file of the continuing
education schedule can be found here:

df. The training calendar's content can also be aggregated into your
favorite RSS reader by adding the information at the following link:
http://www.ohionet.org/training_calendar_0.91.php. This way, you'll
never miss a late addition to the schedule!

As always, if you have any questions about OHIONET's workshops-or ideas
for future ones-please let me know.

Happy New Year!

Evan
