Greetings, friends!

Take a look at these upcoming workshops in October!

Taking ILL to the Next Level

Is your Interlibrary Loan process in need of an overhaul? Are there some
aspects that could be improved? This workshop will help get you started. We
will go beyond the daily processing of ILL requests and look at some of the
tools that staff can use, talk about allowing users to place their own ILL
requests (FirstSearch account is required), clear up confusion about IFM
(Interlibrary Loan Fee Management) and interpret borrowing and lending
reports that provide a wealth of data about your library

Wink and More! Using Free Software for Library Instruction

During this hands-on workshop, participants will be given an overview of
Wink, a free tutorial and presentation software that can be used for library
instruction. This software can be used to create a Flash presentation that
can be linked to any web page. Participants will then have the opportunity
to create their own 3-5 minute tutorial.

using OCLC WorldCat Resource Sharing and Odyssey for document delivery.

Copyright and the Library: Everything You Need to Know But May Be Too Afraid
to Ask

Copyright issues are some of the trickiest topics in libraries. Join
Professor Cindy Kristof-part of the American Library Association's Copyright
Advisory Network-as she brings attendees up to date on current copyright
legislation, past iterations of copyright law that you may not be aware of,
and how both may affect your library today and in the future. Topics
include: "fair use," the TEACH Act, Section 108 Review, and Orphan Works.
Bring your own questions, as these "real-life" scenarios will spur
discussion! (Please note: The information provided in this workshop is not
legal advice and not meant to substitute for professional legal counsel.)

Technical Services Workflow Analysis

Back by popular demand!! Does material move through technical services in an
efficient and effective manner at your library? How would you even know? In
this technical services workflow analysis workshop, we will look at some
evaluation criteria and techniques for examining the process of getting
materials from selection to availability in your library.

five sessions. Attend all the sessions or only the ones of interest. In this
session, we will cover the theories behind the classification schemes (both
Dewey Decimal and Library of Congress) used by most academic and public
libraries. Participants will learn how these classifications are used for
organization and access to materials.
