Spotlight On WebJunction Ohio Courses
”Library Services for Children”

Summer reading is just around the corner.  That makes us think about youth services librarians and WebJunction Ohio has a series of courses designed for the veteran or new children’s librarian in mind.

Access is simple, visit the WJOH website oh.webjunction.org and log in using your WJOH account.  Select the “Course Catalog” tab, then take a peek what’s under the Library Services: Children link.  

Don’t have an account…no problem…click on “Create Account” in the “Your Account” box and follow the instructions.  Don’t be a “no account”…get one now.

Individual courses can be selected and include: 

•    Accompanying the Young Reader: Helping the Reader Choose Appropriate Books (LibraryU)
•    Creating Collaborative Lessons for the Elementary School (LE at D)
•    Creating Compelling Programming in Your School Library (LE at D)
•    Multicultural Literature for Children and Young Adults (LE at D)
•	Planning Story Times for Children (LibraryU)
•	Reaching Reluctant Readers (LE at D)
•	Trends in Children's Literature (LE at D)

(LE at D  courses are provided by University of North Texas.  No, they are not college credit but do count, along with all the courses, towards Ohio Library Re-certification.  Same for the Library U courses, available to WJOH from the State Library of Illinois)

Not to leave out those brave souls who work with teens, there are two courses you can choose from. 

•    Creating Collaborative Lessons for the Secondary School (LE at D)
•    Reaching Teenagers (LE at D)
