LIBRARY DIRECTOR position available 

The Trustees of the Birchard Public Library, located in Fremont, Ohio need an energetic, collaborative, team-oriented leader to fill the Director’s position, open soon due to retirement. Our staff is well trained and the organization is in fit condition, so that the new Director can concentrate on future services. The successful applicant must have an excellent knowledge of best practices with an exciting vision of what libraries can be to their communities, proven fiscal abilities and a willingness to become a leader in the community and State. Experience with Branch and Outreach operations desirable. 

Birchard Public Library (main library in Fremont and three branches in Gibsonburg, Green Springs, and Woodville) serves a community of 49,377 residents with a staff of 29.92 (FTE). The system has an extensive materials collection of 150,651 books, 449 periodicals, 11,114 DVDs and Videos, 8,731 audio recordings, and 723 CD-Roms. As a member of the Clevnet consortium, the library makes available over 3 million titles, 106 databases, 639 downloadable video titles, 9,069 downloadable audio recordings, and 18,801 Ebooks. In 2008 the Library circulated 512,674 materials and answered 32,240 questions. With extensive adult and children’s programming, the Library also offered 51 computer classes in 2008. 

Position requires an accredited MLS/MLIS and 5 years progressive management experience. Salary: Minimum of $75k, additional dependent upon experience.
