POSITION VACANCY


Due to the retirement of the current Director, the North Canton Public
Library is seeking an energetic and dynamic library Director. Excellent
leadership skills and the ability to work with a dedicated staff that takes
pride in providing excellent service to a large patron population is a must.
Visibility in the library and community activities is expected.

The North Canton Public Library is a school district library with a service
area population of approximately 34,000.  There are 35,090 cardholders. The
entire collection has 153,500 items with an annual circulation of 1.1
million.  The library contains 31,400 square feet and a renovation was
completed in June 2009. The library was ranked #1 in the nation in its size
category by HAPLR index in 2008, 2006 and 2005.  In 2008, the Library
Journal designated the library as an American Star Library.

Preferred qualifications include an MLS from an accredited school, 5 years
of professional level library experience with progressive levels of
responsibility and supervisory experience, and proficiency in computers,
automated systems, and other library technologies.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
