.         Are you feeling the impact of library budget cuts on your
2010-2011 technology budget?

If you answered 'Yes" to any of these questions you should register today
for this all-day, hands on Ubuntu Linux workshop. The workshop will provide
participants the opportunity to install Ubuntu, configure staff and public
users and explore options for children and teens. Participants will also
learn about how Linux can be used at the system level and how to set up
public computers in a client/server mode.

Qimo 4 Kids

 

 

--A 159-page handout

 

Jim Mann is the Technology Coordinator for the Greene County Public Library
in Xenia. Prior to joining GCPL 15 years ago he was Director of University
Computing Services for Antioch University in Yellow Springs where he was
also a University Lecturer in the Conflict Resolution program and k-12
teacher enrichment program. An outspoken advocate for Free and Open Source
Software, Jim has been teaching students, faculty, librarians and patrons
how to use computers for more than 25 years and has been called "an
entertaining and informative speaker."

Enhanced Members of SERLS, SWON, Norweld and NEO: $100.00

(includes 75% discount on workshop fee plus $75 cost of computer)

 

 

Friends of SERLS: $150.00 

(includes 25% discount on workshop fee plus $75 cost of computer)

 

 

Other Libraries: $175.00 

($100 workshop fee plus $75 cost of computer)

Because this course includes a lot of materials and hardware, registration
and or cancelation must be completed by 11/1/09 at noon.
