Author H.G. Bissinger will discuss his acclaimed book “Friday Night
Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream”, when he speaks at the Tuscarawas
Campus of Kent State University Oct. 20 at 7 in the Founders Hall
auditorium.   The event, co-sponsored by the Kent State Tuscarawas
Artist/Lecture Series and the public libraries of Tuscarawas County, is
part of the One Book One Community initiative.  Although this presentation
is offered free of charge, tickets are required and can be picked up at
the main office of Founders Hall . Kent-Tuscarawas is located at 330
University Dr. NE, New Philadelphia. Office hours are Monday through
Thursday from 8 to 8 and Friday from 8 to 5. Tickets are limited to two
per person.

A New York Times bestseller, “Friday Nights Lights” is about the impact of
high school football on small-town life. In 2004, the book was made into a
successful film and later was the inspiration for an NBC television
series. Bissinger’s distinguished writing career includes being a reporter
for the Ledger-Star in Norfolk Va., the St. Paul Pioneer Press and the
Philadel-phia Inquirer, where he won a Pulitzer Prize for investigative
reporting.  He has written three additional books, “A Prayer for the
City,” “Three Nights in August”  and his newest book “Shooting Stars,”
which is co-authored by Cleveland Cavaliers  basketball great LeBron
James.

This Artist/Lecture presentation culminates two months of special events
sponsored by the One Book, One Community initiative.  One Book, One
Community is a community reading and discussion project that seeks to
cultivate a culture of reading and conversation in communities throughout
the Tuscarawas Valley.   For more information visit,
