Program Description:
It has been said that a good volunteer in the library is a priceless
gift to everyone. As budget cuts and concerns continue to effect our
libraries abilities to meet our mission, goals and needs of our
communities, volunteers continue to take on important roles in service
in our libraries.

This interactive and fun seminar explains the seven components of an
effective volunteer program: Recruiting, Screening, Orientation,
Training, Managing their Day to Day Activities, Supporting and
Retention. Participants will also benefit from real-life examples of
volunteer programs currently utilized by libraries in Ohio and
throughout the United States.

Participants will learn and begin to master:

*	Recruiting volunteers in the community and on-line
*	What to look for when screening a volunteer candidate
*	The components of an effective volunteer orientation program
*	Managing volunteers and their day to day work
*	The differences of volunteering in an union vs. non-union
environment
