*Literary Arts Festival packed with period activities*

/A Spring Literary Arts Festival---On the Home Front: Rivets, Rations, 
and Romance/in McArthur, Ohio will begin days before the Festival with 
1940s themed activities. Most events will be held at the Herbert Wescoat 
Memorial Library and many are free to the public.

A traveling exhibit entitled /Victory at All Costs: Money of World War 
II/ from the American Numismatic Association Money Museum will be on 
display in the meeting room of the library from Monday, April 4 through 
Saturday, April 16. The exhibit, along with a local display of WWII 
memorabilia, will help tell of this decade's stories through the coins, 
paper money, war bonds and other means of payment used during the 
conflict from the German ghettos to the Hawaiian Islands and at home in 
the United States. The exhibit will also include several military 
decorations awarded to soldiers and civilians for bravery and service. A 
poster/photo display of topics of the era (rationing, scrap drives, the 
war effort, entertainment, and so forth), sponsored by The Friends of 
the Library, will hang throughout this period.

On Monday, April 11 at 7 p.m., there will be a special screening of the 
Woody Allen film /Radio Days/. This filmreveals American family life 
during the Golden Age of Radio, where Allen narrates the stories of his 
youth and how radio influenced his childhood in the days before TV.The 
young Allen is portrayed onscreen by Seth Green as "Joe." Each character 
in the film finds in radio shows an escape from reality through the 
gossip of celebrities, sports legends of the day, crooners, and other 
events and people.The film also stars Mia Farrow, William H. Macy, and 
Dianne Wiest./

The "home front" theme will continue with a panel discussion that 
consists of local citizens (men, women, veterans, and everyday citizens) 
who will discuss (with audience participation) their memories of the 
home front in the United States during World War II.This discussion will 
take place in the library's meeting room on Wednesday, April 13 at 6:00 p.m.

These events are all free and open to the public.

and Romance is sponsored by the Herbert Wescoat Memorial Library and the 
Friends of the Herbert Wescoat Memorial Library in McArthur, Ohio. 
Events will begin on Monday, April 4, 2011 and the last event will be
