Dear Colleagues,

We are officially in the final countdown to the 2011 Association for Rural &
Small Libraries Conference in Frisco, Texas, which begins September 8! We
have a few announcements to share concerning this highly-anticipated event:

*Lodging:*

   - The conference-rate rooms at the main conference hotel (Embassy Suites)
are all filled. We do, however, have an excellent designated overflow
hotel: the Homewood Suites by Hilton. Homewood Suites is less than a
10-minute walk from the conference center and offers the same discounted
rate of $109 per night, which is available through August 31st. All studios
have separate living and sleeping areas with a full-sleeper in every suite.
There is free parking and complimentary wired and wireless Internet.
   - A shuttle runs between the hotel and conference center twice hourly.
Reservations are accepted by phone (214/618-0111) or online (
http://tinyurl.com/3gmkb9c, using the Group Code RSL). Be sure to
mention that you are with the ARSL Conference and verify that they are
   giving you the $109 rate.

*Transportation:*

   - A discounted airport shuttle rate of $28 one-way from the two nearby
airports, Love Field and DFW International Airport (each about 25 minutes
from the conference hotel), has been negotiated.
   - Other ground transportation options at the airports include other
shuttle services and taxis, which may be shared, and will cost about $70
one-way. Here is the link for online shuttle reservations:
   http://www.yellowcheckershuttle.com/arsl2011.

*Registration:*

   - Pre-registration is available through August 28, 2011, and is only $200
for the full conference at the member rate. After the 28th you may still
register live at the conference site.

*Partnerships:*

   - The University of North Texas has signed on as the official conference
   sponsor.
   - The Member Match-Up Program offers individuals attending the conference
for the first time the opportunity to be paired with a seasoned ARSL
   member.

*In the news:*

   - Library Journal is sending a representative to cover the conference, so
be sure you don’t miss an issue!

Looking forward to seeing many of you in Texas!
Adios!
Susan
