The results of the 2011 Ohio Summer Reading Program Evaluation have been
posted to WebJunction Ohio at:

http://oh.webjunction.org/ohsumread/-/articles/content/130581244.

Many thanks to the 241 individuals, representing 230 public library
systems, who responded to this year's online survey.

These respondents reported a total of 451,143 individuals (all ages)
participating in summer reading programs across Ohio in 2011 as
registrants in a library summer reading program, including 303,732
children, 62,066 teens, and 85,345 adults. The respondents also
reported a total attendance of 504,242 at SRP-related library programs
such as storytimes, performers, parties, etc.

42% of respondents reported that their SRP participation increased over
last year, while 37% reported that SRP participation decreased and 22%
reported no change. A slightly higher percentage of libraries reported
a decrease in participation in 2011 than did so in 2010. However, the
overall numbers seem to indicate a modest increase in SRP participation
statewide (allowing for the increase in survey participation from 218
libraries in 2010).

For the complete SRP Evaluation report, which includes data on
participation, themes, program length, tracking methods, resources and
incentives, planning, and workshops, please see:

http://oh.webjunction.org/ohsumread/-/articles/content/130581244.

There, you can also download 2 appendixes. One provides the questions
asked in the 2011 Ohio SRP Evaluation survey. The other compiles all
evaluative comments and suggestions submitted by survey respondents
regarding the Collaborative Summer Library Program 2011 and 2012 themes,
CSLP manuals and other resources, the CSLP vendor (Upstart/Highsmith),
the Ohio State Fair and Ohio State Parks, Regional Library Systems' SRP
workshops, and general suggestions and comments.

All data and narrative feedback related to CSLP themes, manuals,
resources, and vendor has been forwarded to the CSLP, to be shared with
its working committees for future planning. Data and feedback on the
SRP Workshops has been shared with the CE coordinators at the four
regional library systems. Data and feedback on the Ohio State Fair and
ODNR offerings has been shared with those agencies. Respondents'
comments and suggestions will be used to develop new SRP-related
resources and recommend improvements to current programs.

Please contact me with any questions.

Sincerely,

Janet
