Library Assistant - Part-time


Part-Time            16-28 hours per week
Wages                  $7.40 per hour   



Description:

The St. Clairsville Public Library is currently seeking two friendly,
service-oriented staff members to fill two Library Assistant positions.  

This position requires a candidate with a positive and helpful attitude to
ensure that our patrons receive a pleasant library experience with every
visit.  Although primarily working at the front desk, this staff member may
work within any department of the library, if needed.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 2 years college or equal relevant work experience is required
for this position.  The ideal candidate will possess basic computer skills
with a knowledge of current applications and various computer software,
including Microsoft Office.  Knowledge of the Horizon ILS software is a
plus.  Staff member must possess the ability to alphabetize and organize
information, as well as multitask when necessary.  This position strongly
requires the ability to deal with the public and handle uncomfortable
situations at times, so an enthusiasm for working with the public is a must.


Basic Duties:

This position reports to the Supervisor of Circulation.  The hours may vary
based on department requirements - some evenings and Saturdays will be
required.

.         Provide a positive and friendly environment for patrons and staff

.         Assist patrons with the location of information

.         Perform the check-in and check-out of materials

.         Pack and unpack delivery service materials

.         Complete daily and monthly reports

.         Answer telephone inquiries and patron requests

.         Assist patrons and other staff with the fax machine

 

Benefits:

Library staff are eligible to participate in the Ohio Public Employee
Retirement System (OPERS).  Staff members also earn paid-vacation time.
