USAC E-Rate Changes for FY2011

Beginning FY2011:

Technology plans are required only for Priority 2 services (Internal
Connections and Basic Maintenance of Internal Connections.)

Along with the Technology Plan requirement change, Technology Plans are
no longer required to include budget information. While budget
information is no longer a requirement, it is recommended your library
still keep technology goals in mind when developing library budgets.

Technology Plans (FY2011 and beyond) should include the following
components:

*	Clear goals and a realistic strategy for using
telecommunications and information technology to improve education or
library services.
*	A professional development strategy to ensure that staff knows
how to use these new technologies to improve education or library
services.
*	An assessment of the telecommunication services, hardware,
software and other services that will be needed to improve education or
library services.
*	An ongoing evaluation process that enables the school or library
to monitor progress toward the specified goals and makes mid-course
corrections in response to new developments and opportunities.
*	[Beginning with FY2011, this element is no longer required] A
sufficient budget to acquire and maintain the hardware, software,
professional development and other services needed to implement the
strategy for improved education or library services
