Licking County Library- Newark, Ohio

Head of Adult Services- Grade 9 (Full-time Opening)
Adult Services @ Newark Library, Newark, Ohio



The Head of Adult Services performs a variety of work related duties as they relate to the Library's day-to-day adult readers, researchers, online users, and audiovisual customers. The Head of Adult Services, in coordination with the Head of Branch Services is responsible for system-wide adult collection development of print and audiovisual materials.  Additional responsibilities include management of adult services staff, adult programming and services.  The Head of Adult Services is a member of the library's management team.


This is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week. A job offer will be conditional upon a successful completion of a background check and meeting any other preconditions of employment. The successful candidate will work a varying schedule including evenings and weekends, Monday through Saturday. The successful candidate, if needed, will be required to work additional hours on Sundays at the Newark Library.

Pay Rate

This is a salaried position that starts at $40,278.62 per year (Grade 9/A/Exempt) dependent on qualifications and experience. This position is eligible for the library's fringe benefit package.



Probationary Period

The first 6 months in this position are considered probationary in nature.  The successful applicant's performance will be reviewed at 6 months. If the employee's performance is not satisfactory, the employee may be terminated.  If in the opinion of the supervisor, it seems the employee needs more time to show they can perform at the expected level, the probationary period may be extended for a maximum of three more months. If the employee's performance is still not satisfactory at the end of this second probationary period, their employment with the Library will be terminated.
