*Network Assistant, Wood County District Public Library* (full-time)

37.5 hours per week; $15.39 to $17.95 per hour DOQ; benefits include health
insurance and vacation/sick leave.

*QUALIFICATIONS:*  Completion of Associate’s degree in computer technology
or related field; minimum 2 years of experience with applicable PC computer
maintenance, Microsoft networking, and Microsoft operating systems; or an
equivalent combination of training and experience.  Ability to work a
varied schedule.  Must maintain valid State of Ohio driver’s license; must
maintain insurability according to Library policy.  Background check
required.

*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:   *Assists Network and Systems
Administrator in providing technical computer network support to Library
staff and general public; assists staff in resolving networking problems
and answers technical questions; participates in development of IT policies
and procedures; performs upgrades as assigned; corrects and/or repairs
minor system problems as assigned in an accurate and timely manner; assists
in maintaining, installing, and repairing computer hardware.  Responsible
for resolving technical issues at all WCDPL locations including Walbridge
branch and the bookmobile; assists with special projects as assigned;
assists and/or teaches Library patrons in computer systems use as needed.
Provide server support and maintenance.  Provide end user help desk support
for staff.  Provide support of the PC time and print management software.
Perform web site development and web site maintenance tasks.  Perform
daily, weekly, and monthly routine tasks.  Provide network support
including network equipment and monitoring the WAN.  Maintains and installs
computer hardware including minor repairs.  Maintains software, installs
and upgrades software applications, troubleshoots problems.  Maintains
inventory, prepares replacement schedule, for equipment

*MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE CHARACTERISTICS:*  (*Indicates developed after
employment)  Knowledge of:  Library policies and procedures*; Library goals
and objectives*; computer operating systems/procedures; computer science or
data processing; Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Access,
PowerPoint, etc.); desktop publishing applications; server applications;
data analysis; correct use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling; office
practices and procedures.  Advanced experience with PC networking,
programming, LANs and WANs.  Experience with Windows products.  Knowledge
of telecommunication systems. Good communication skills

*QUALIFICATIONS and NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:  *(Applicants
without required qualifications need not apply)

   1. Course work in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or
   Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
   2. Minimum of one pc-based certification preferred (such as A+, MCITP,
   and MCTS)
   3. Microsoft Server support experience required
   4. Experience with local and wide area networks
   5. Experience with content management systems such as Joomla and Wiki’s
   preferred
   6. Experience with web programming tools such as PHP, HTLM and/or Java
   7. Must be willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
   8. Works cooperatively with a team
   9. Problem solving ability and detail oriented
   10. Excellent communication skills including customer service
   skills—verbal and written
   11. Excellent organizational skills and detailed oriented
