How do you advocate the value of your library and staff? Do you have meaningful photos, data, and personal stories of library users to support your message?

The State Library of Ohio, Ohio Library Council, OPLIN, OhioLINK, OHIONET, and INFOhio are once again working together to help you with ideas and resources to plan, host, and share the results of Snapshot Day: A Day in the Life of Ohio Libraries. We invite and encourage you to join libraries of all types across Ohio for our third annual Snapshot Day to be held in November 2013.

OPLIN supports the statewide advocacy for public libraries by collecting and disseminating data about free public library Internet services and usage of the information resources provided to the residents of Ohio. But statistics are not as compelling as the "personal" impact of libraries: the photos and stories of the library users in your community. Snapshot Day is a great opportunity to illustrate the value of your library to your community and help you gather the support you need, both locally and at the Statehouse.

Based on feedback we received last year for more flexibility, we have expanded the time period from one week to one month for libraries to participate in a Snapshot Day 2013. Mark your calendars now. More details will be coming soon.

Resources, pictures and results from Ohio Snapshot Day 2011 & 2012 are available at: http://www.library.ohio.gov/snapshotday/.
