Position to start June 2013

Please submit a letter of application, outlining relevant experience,
a resume, list of three references knowledgeable about your library
work experience.  A library application must also be completed and
submitted.  The application is available on the library’s website at
www.canalfultonlibrary.org; applications can be accepted by mail or
e-mail.

Requirements: MLS required from an ALA-accredited university, MPA
preferred, but not required, plus five years post-graduate experience
in a public library, including administrative and supervisory
experience.
The director will work with the Library Board to determine the
strategic direction for the library, will represent the library in the
local and regional community, and will develop new library programs
and innovative technologies. The successful candidate must have
excellent communication skills, experience in budget development and
management, and be responsive to the needs of the staff and patrons.
This hands-on position requires the candidate to be self-motivated,
self-directed, and capable of working without administrative support
staff.  The library is located in a historic building 1880's Sullivan
residence with additions on three floors, 8,079 square feet.
The Canal Fulton Public Library is a school district public library
with a service population of 13,328, in the Northwest Local School
District that includes: Canal Fulton, Lawrence Township, Doylestown,
Clinton and New Franklin. The library has 10,300 library cardholders,
a staff of 12 full time and 7 part-time staff who offers children’s
and teen programs.  The library is a member of the Serving Every
Ohioan (SEO) Consortium that uses Sirsi Symphony ILS.  The library has
a collection of 55,284 items, a 2012 circulation of 298,600 and a 2013
budget of $895,129, a quarter of which is from a 1 mill continuous
levy, three quarters of which is from the Public Library Fund.  An
additional 1 mill continuous levy has been placed on the May 7, 2013
ballot.
Salary: Minimum $50,000, starting salary (Negotiable based on
experience and education).
