If your library is located in an area served by Frontier Communications, you may be interested in some information I saw in a press release, especially if your library also does Internet training for the public through Connect Ohio's Every Citizen Online program or your own in-house program.

Lifeline-eligible customers in Frontier’s Ohio service territory, which includes portions of 80 counties, can now subscribe to broadband service at significantly reduced rates through a limited time pilot program from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The program encourages low-income residents to subscribe to broadband service by extending Lifeline discounts to broadband services for qualified customers and by promoting digital literacy. Historically, the FCC’s Lifeline program has been limited to providing discounts only on phone service for qualifying low-income
consumers.

Residents interested in participating in the program or receiving more information can call 1-888-483-6767 to speak with a specially trained Frontier broadband consultant.
