[OPLINLIST] Question about a Notary Public at the Library

Hello,

* There is not a written policy (though we have 5 notaries on staff).

* Our library did buy the materials and they reimbursed those who took the test.

* There is no policy about doing it on personal time as that person is a notary for the state of Ohio (not the library).

* We have noted who the notaries are on our phone directory so that if someone comes in we can see if they're available.

* We do not advertise the service as there is no guarantee that a notary will be available.

* Those who are notaries have it listed on their library profile page, so it will come up on a search with our library name and 'notary'.

* We maintain a few cheat sheets on our intranet to help the notaries with questions and needed signature sheets. I've attached them to the email.

Hope this helps!

Subject: [OPLINLIST] Question about a Notary Public at the Library

We are considering having a staff person become a Notary Public and have questions for those libraries that offer this service. Do you have a written policy for this service? Did the library pay any fees and/or purchase the supplies for the Notary? Do you have a policy about the staff person providing this service on personal time?

Thank you in advance for any advice,

Gloria Malone
